About me

Alexia Melianou is a Book and Graphique Documents Conservator-Restorer based in Brussels but also working abroad (Greece, Egypt, UK).

She is a Master's degree (M2) holder in Book and Paper Conservation (National School of Visual Arts of La Cambre) and has two Bachelor's degrees in the same field.

She has more than 5 years of experience in the Conservation-Restoration of Library and Archive materials, Exhibition Installation, Preventive Conservation and Educational Programs, in both public and private sectors.

She had worked for the Conservation-Restoration of the Manuscripts of the Dukes of Burgundy (KBR, Brussels), the War Heritage Institute (Brussels), the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (Leiden), the Library of Saint John's Monastery (Patmos) and many more.

She treats a wide range of materials such as papyrus, parchment, leather, paper in bound and unbound forms, illuminated manuscripts, printings, comic strips and more.


She is particularly interested in the Vellum Binding Conservation and she undertakes research projects in that field.


She also realises educational programs about Bookbinding & Conservation and Books' History.

She is a member of ICOM Belgium.
